Last Monday suddenly turned COLD!!!
Having left for work, I had to turn back and grab a coat! Then it was a thick scarf until about Thursday at which point it was RIDICULOUSLY sunny and I hated having to work indoors but I got to be outside at the weekend which made me happy.
Tuesday Chris got an email from a delightful Frenchman who very accommodatingly had written to him in English, however, at the end of his email, instead of saying
"Feel free to get in touch with me if necessary!"
he said
"Feel free to touch me if necessary!"
...We laughed. A lot.
And THEN whilst he was working through lunch, I told the other stagiares about what had happened and they decided it would be EXTREMELY funny to spam him with similar messages, so upon returning we all went round each others offices and sent words to the effect of "Hearing you're touching people now? Just to let you know, you can touch me if necessary."
It brightened my Tuesday.
And then Wednesday was good because I FINALLY got a blue steak at work (the scary man wasn't at the counter and the new man seemed less evil so I asked him and he made it for me!)
Thursday I went on a printer cartridge adventure as the printer had run out of ink and I went everywhere looking for a replacement and ended up finding a dear old man in the basement who handed me a brand new one!
Work itself this week was alright - I realised that with these eFlashes which we do, of one of the particular categories I concern myself with, there were ten January - June and have been FOURTEEN since I've arrived at the start of July!
Also, it is my LEAST favourite part of the month as I have to test every link and check every article in our newsletter in all four languages and it is LONG and DULL and it only really works in Internet Explorer and it is SO SLOW! Ugh.
Post-wise though, it was an EXCELLENT week as on Thursday I got what I like to call a "double grandmother whammy" (cards from both Gragry and Nanna!) which made me very happy and on TUESDAY I got a parcel of PRESENTS from Chelsea and the first present was a knickers-purse!
I am saving the others for bad days/one REALLY bad day!
Friday night Chris and one of his friends were having a big night with a whole bunch of people from Aston and Bath universities and I just went round for the house-bit before they went out which was fun!
Saturday morning I did laundry and got a new phone contract, with a new GREEN phone for the princely sum of 1€!!! This took until four as I had to go home and fetch the various necessary documents but the people who wet me up with it were very friendly again - they were working at the wondrous fnac!

Then I went and sat in the beautiful Luxembourg Gardens and did a picture in oil pastels of a photo I'd taken the weekend before:
I had quieter evening and having made courgette and pasta for tea (I even found "British Cheddar" to sprinkle over it but it really looked like a triangle of orange edam!) I sat and read in bed! (My book is good - another one by Musso who, as it turns out is indeed French!)
Sunday we had a church picnic in a mini-park I didn't know was there and once it was over, I came back home and dragged Mathilde back there! We sat in the sunshine and it was glorious!
Monday was quiet as Bernard was ill and as there were strikes today I decided I'd work from home, but realised that I couldn't for one of the things I needed to do as I didn't have the right proxy or something.. bah. I REALLY wanted to stay at home but I saw Mike on skype and he made me go in and I'm glad he did because it was a really clear journey in (at 11) and it was really quiet at work - just Min, Diana (and their boss) and I - and so it was a very relaxed affair and I got my headphones and listened to some bangin' choons right until Chris showed up mid-way through the afternoon.
Oh and ALSO I sometimes feel my French is improving! Today I swear I rang half of France, trying to find out if a particular system could be two things at once in French, as the translators were having a problem with something we'd sent them. But then at the prayer group on Thursday I felt SO incapable of talking and it was back to the SIMPLEST sentences - which was very frustrating!
Food-wise:
Monday I made a yummy cous-cous, steaky thing which was DELICIOUS and I even found some mango chutney! mmmm... mango chutney.
Friday, my crêpe of the week was this tasty Morlaix (which contained raclette - which is apparently a swiss cheese-dish?! - with spinach and creme fraîche - yummy!)

I took Mathilde this week and she had the Manhattan which I had the week before when I arrived:
And I ordered this creme de citron one which, as it turns out, was LASHINGS of lemon curd - delicious but they went WAAAAAY over the top with the filling and I had to finish it the next morning!Saturday lunch was this beauty from my favourite Grecian:
