Wednesday: banks and washing powder

Wednesday... IIIII.. Oh! I opened a bank account! Yeah. All in French. Go me! The lady was so smiley and lovely and kept signing me up for stuff saying "you might as well take it - it's free" so I'm a little concerned as to what I've gotten myself into. And I think we killed half the rainforest in paperwork! I had to go back to mine at one point to fetch something and altogether it took so long that it was lunchtime by the time I got into work! This meant staying behind late for the next two nights...

I had run out of clothes by this point and so after work I stopped in at the mini-mart to pick up some kind of product to do my hand-washing in. There were three sets of shelves entirely dedicated to washing products and I hadn't the foggiest which I needed. I stood there for ages, looking hopefully up and down the aisle to see if there was an assistant nearby, but alas, there was none. I eventually found two smallish bottles of liquid which mentioned hand washing and sensitive skin on them but which also had a worrying word to do with "soft" and I suspected I'd found softener rather than washing liquid. So I went for a hunt round the shop and eventually accosted a friendly-looking woman in the dairy section, and asked her if she could help me. She could and she very kindly did! I am now the proud owner of some french Ariel washing powder.

When I came home, a postcard was waiting for me from dear cousin Joy, which again was a ray of sunshine after a long hot day and made me very excited indeed about the upcoming family reunion!

Oh, then in night I woke up around 3am but couldn't get back to sleep and I genuinely believed that the reason was because I hadn't filled out the right form at work for going to sleep! French bureaucracy is penetrating my subconscious! Awful. And then when I finally did get to sleep I dreamt I was a robot, locked in a room by a baddie and was being fired at with bolts of electricity from movement sensor pads on the walls. I disabled them and managed to get away and came across Mike and Jo and I was delighted to meet Jo but then Johnny Depp was there and he was a baddie and he shaved the hair off the back of my head and then everyone on the planet was a baddie with eyes that shot red lasers, except Paul and Tracey but then their friends were and then they were too and then everybody came after us slowly but determinedly and we were running but then we realised we'd have to die sometime and so went on a spree in a sweetie shop and sat down at the bar in a pub and cracked out the sherbet dipdab and then the baddies knew that we were ready to die and they seemed afraid... (but definitely still wanted to laser us.)

  2. Yay that's me! Glad you liked it!

It won't let me post a comment on the most recent one, but I just realised you must be near where Harry and I stayed last year, as we got off the Metro right near the Tour de Montparnasse (excuse poor spelling)! I also have a similar photo of me pointing at it in an excited fashion from the Eiffel Tower. The cousin bonds grow deep.
